You are kindly invited to join us at 12 pm in front of the Consulate General of Japan at 48th and Park Avenue.

This event is endorsed by Shigeko Sasamori and Setsuko Thurlow, atomic bomb survivors from Hiroshima; Terumi Tanaka, atomic bomb survivor from Nagasaki; and Peter Kuznick, Professor of History, Director of the Nuclear Studies Institute at American University, and co-author (With Oliver Stone) of The Untold History of the United States.

The gathering will also support of the commitment of the people of Japan to protect their peace constitution by retaining Article 9, and to encourage their continued opposition to Japan’s reliance on the U.S.- Japan military alliance and on the U.S. nuclear umbrella. It also supports their efforts to encourage the Japanese government to sign the Humanitarian Pledge. This initiative – which has been joined by 113 non-nuclear weapons states – is designed to identify and pursue effective measures to fill the legal gap for the prohibition and elimination of nuclear weapons, just as the world succeeded in banning chemical and biological weapons.
