This fall, the world’s largest passenger ship sailing around the world for peace, sustainability and innovation is coming to New York City for two days as part of Peace Boat’s 95th Global Voyage for Peace.
Established in 1983, the award-winning International non-profit organization Peace Boat has Special Consultative Status with UN ECOSOC and is associated with the UN Department of Public Information (DPI). Peace Boat is a committed campaigner for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and sails with the Global Goals logo on the hull of its ship. The ship set sail from Japan yesterday, and will visit 20 countries around the world during the three month journey.
A very special evening will be held onboard the ship as it is docked in Manhattan on October 15, 2017. This will include presentations, music, exhibitions, cultural performances and more, focused on the UN Sustainable Development Goals – in particular oceans and climate change. During the event, Peace Boat will introduce its Ecoship, the world’s most sustainable cruise ship planned to sail in 2020 as a flagship for climate action.
