Peace Boat is honoured to have received the 2013 Green Planet Award from the NPO Korea Green Foundation at a ceremony held in Seoul on December 17, 2013.
The Green Planet award is presented annually to individuals or organisations who have been actively concerned with and supportive of environmental issues in Korea. Peace Boat was selected for its contribution to peace and co-existence in East Asia.
Other 2013 recipients of the award included the Seoul Board of Education, actor Ji Jin-hee, and corporations such as the Lotte Department Store, Samsung Engineering, GS Caltex, Leo Burnett Korea and High1 Resorts.
The Korea Green Foundation is an NPO which provides financial support to citizens’ groups and activists working on sustainability and environmental protection. It leads a wide range of advocacy and campaigns in relation to the natural environment, and is in recent years particularly dedicated to capacity building and education for future experts in environmental issues. The Korea Green Foundation is the Korean partner for the Peace & Green Boat Asia Regional Voyages, regularly co-organized with Peace Boat.
